| If you ever thought Cricket was boring, you've never seen it played by a group of U.S. sixth graders. Kwik Cricket was designed in England to safely teach a sport that encompasses many of the skills, techniques, and some of the rules of baseball. This set is thoroughly realistic, right down to the molded-in ball stitches and the design of the heavy-duty plastic bat. The special "safety" cricket ball is molded from dense integral skin foam and is properly weighted for both "Bowling" (you can call it pitching), batting and catching. Protective equipment and gloves are not required and the game can be played indoors and out. Set up a single 2-wicket game or two individual 1-wicket games with the equipment in our set. In brief, the game centers around the wicket (three vertical posts called stumps, set into a base). The batter tries to protect the wicket while the bowler and his fielders try to hit it. Runs are scored if the batter successfully hits the ball and runs a designated distance, before a member of the fielding team hits the wicket he's protecting. The distance to be run can be adjusted for both age and playing conditions, and ranges from 30' to 62'. The set includes 2, roto-molded wickets (bases and friction-fit stumps), two bats (1 each; 28-1/2"L /17.75 oz. and 30-1/2"L/19.5 oz.), two, 2.5 oz. Safety Cricket balls, Deluxe Carry Bag and a Kwik Cricket for American Children rule book. |
